Bayou Fest at the Sankofa Wetland Park & Nature Trail in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward is a free community celebration held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features kayaking, fishing lessons, horseback riding, birdwatching, live music, and free crawfish while supplies last, highlighting the restored 40-acre wetland.

Key details about the 2026 event:

• Location: 6401 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117.

• Activities: Kayaking, fishing, birdwatching, horseback riding, STEM activities, lawn games, and a new birding trail opening.

• Food: Free crawfish (while supplies last) and local food vendors.
